RISE AND SHINE
Open Wide Your Spiritual Eyes

A Commentary by Constance Vanides

The morning was quite chilly for southern California. I had found a cozy spot on the floor next to the glass sliding door which faced east. The sun had begun to rise. I had closed my eyes, enjoying the warmth, when a brilliant flash of the sun's rays in my face caused my eyes to open. At the same time I heard, "Arise and shine, for the glory of the Lord has come upon you." The Divine Voice warmed my soul as well.

The words were familiar but I needed to find out exactly where they were in the Bible. I finally found Isaiah 60:1, 2: "Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you."

That happened many years ago. Yet recently, the Holy Spirit spoke the same thoughts in a message for you for today:

MY LIGHT IN YOU
I am the Light of the world.
I have given My light to everyone
who ever came or who will ever come
into the world.
Do you know this is true?
I am the Truth.
If you believe this,
then you know the truth,
that My light is in you.
If you do not know Me
it is because the world,
the wisdom of men
has blinded your eyes.
You can never know the truth
unless your eyes be opened.
Open wide then your spiritual eyes,
that you may indeed know My mind.

According to the Gospel of John, Jesus, the Word, is "...the true Light which gives light to every man who comes into the world." (John 1:9) It is only through Jesus Christ that we can know God. The light of Jesus, reflecting in us, will lead others to faith. Are you a reflector?
