It looked like an ordinary rock. Somewhat round, nothing special about it. Actually, the rock was rough and drab in color. Rather ugly, until…the hand of the skilled lapidary with his electric tool sliced it in half. There before us were revealed two parts of a most magnificent interior! Three dimensional, the spectacularly colored and polished insides were open to our oh’s and ah’s!
How like God to allow us a view of what He alone knows! And, how is it that the Creator of all the earth reveals His hidden secrets to us?
“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which
God ordained before the ages for our glory.” (1 Corinthians 2:7)
And, unlike sun lamps in a tanning salon, which change our outside skin color, God’s light rays work within to change our inner man into a person with the likeness of Christ.
“GOD be merciful to us and bless us, and cause
His face to shine upon us.” (Psalm 67:1)
Are you ready? Allow the Most High Lapidary to break open the outer shell of your self-nature, to reveal what He’s created in your inner self. Allow His Spirit to fill your spirit with the mind of Christ. Even your drab exterior will change to reflect Himself in your face!
“When Moses came down from Mount Sinai carrying
the two Tablets of The Testimony, he didn’t know that
the skin of his face glowed because he had been
speaking with GOD.” (Exodus 34:29 The Message)
“A man’s wisdom makes his face shine,
and the sternness of his face is changed.” (Ecclesiates 8:1b)
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror
the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image
from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”(2 Corinthians 3:18)
We indeed “…as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:5) No drab ugly rock here! We know what’s on the inside of us!
