Perfecting Perfection

In God's Image

Therefore you shall be perfect,
just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
(Matthew 5:48)

A Commentary by Constance Vanides

“How can we ever expect to be made perfect?” I posed this question to the recipients of the latest word the Lord had given me, “Perfected in Me.” This message acknowledges that we can, in truth, be perfected and accepted in Jesus. And in that perfection, we are even expected through His power to spread the Good News throughout the world! How perfect is that!

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in
all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
(Acts 1:8)

“But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God
is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.”
(1 John 2:5)

PERFECTED IN ME

I am the Perfect One.
Without sin, I alone was able to serve as
sacrifice to cover mankind’s sins.
Acknowledging this as truth,
with total surrender to My Majesty,
and obedience to My word,
can you live the righteous life.
I have perfected you in My sight
and accepted you as My own.
Thus, do I send you out in My name,
in the power of My Spirit and love.
Though others seek their own ways,
you have found My way into everlasting life!

As Christ’s disciples on the road to perfection, we must first spend time with the Son of God who came to show us the Father. Led by the Holy Spirit, we learn about growing in Jesus. As with fruit, cling to Him, onto His every word. Hanging on, until fully ripened, we mature and develop exactly into what God creates us to be.

Like farmers who care for their crops, one helps the others to see that only fully ripened fruit is ready to be picked and sent to the marketplace to be chosen by those who seek the very best: “Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”
(Colossians1:28)

The Apostle Paul continues exhorting those who would grow into useful disciples with these words: “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.” (Colossians 3:14)

Finally, we can speak the words of David, as psalmist who acknowledges, not only God’s perfect way, but God’s way in us: “It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.” (Psalm 18:32)

Allow Jesus to guide you at all times into your perfected path. Enjoy the walk!
