SPIRITUAL MAKEOVER
Jesus, our “Makeover”

A Commentary by Constance Vanides

What is this “makeover” the world is talking about lately? What’s all this popular talk of having a physical makeover to enhance one’s self and person: body, hair, facial appearance, dress, personality, one’s home and worth, all and more, in order to project vitality into a “blah” person?

The secular world is on another binge! What we don’t hear from the media is the one “makeover” guaranteed to change one’s life for the better and forever! A Spiritual makeover!

The way is simple. Change your thoughts. That’s “metanoia” in Greek, meaning “repentance”. Call upon the name of the Lord and allow God into your life to give you a birth from above (John 3). Some call it “Born Again”. Follow up with a cleansing water baptism, an announcement to the world of your intent, and a willingness to ask for and receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit. Let Him take over the “makeover!”

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3) “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8)

“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:38, 39)

“For whoever calls upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13; Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21)

“…wait for the Promise of the Father, ‘which,’ He said, ‘you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.’” (Acts 1:4, 5)

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11)

Lest you think this is all just “bible talk” and doesn’t apply to you personally, let me assure you, along with many more witnesses that God’s word is truth. Followed faithfully, His truth can bring the changes which usher in a new, victorious life with power in the Spirit, unleashed from the “old you”. The enemy will undoubtedly continue to harass, but you will have the “full armor” (Jesus Christ) to be the “blocker,” saving you from being Spiritually penetrated by the enemy.

We can trust Jesus, the Son of God, who came in the flesh to truly “make us over” in His beautiful image.
